Hair relaxing is a type of technical service that requires a good knowledge of hair products.

Frizzy, kinky, curly, and wavy hair often cause distress to many women. A little humidity, rain, or wind, and goodbye to the hours spent achieving that magnificent blow-dry! Many therefore wish to resort to a permanent solution, especially those with kinky hair or Afro hair. It is therefore important not to overlook this type of service at the risk of losing out on an entire category of clients with ethnic hair types.

First and foremost, it will be necessary to perform a "hair diagnosis" of your client to guarantee an optimal result thanks to products selected tailor-made according to the nature of the hair. It is also possible that the hair relaxing technique may not be the most appropriate. Indeed, the latter is a permanent service that internally modifies the structure of the hair fiber, thus making the hair extremely easy to straighten.

Moreover, the products used will not be the same depending on the type of hair you are treating: fine, thick, porous, or healthy hair. It is essential to correctly diagnose the hair type so as not to weaken it during relaxing.

When to opt for hair relaxing?

As previously mentioned, hair relaxing is a chemical hair straightening technique that is irreversible until new hair grows outside the scalp. This type of treatment will therefore be suitable for frizzy, very frizzy, and kinky hair types, such as Afro-American and ethnic hair, wishing to obtain straight hair.

The duration of the service, depending on the relaxer brand, will generally be 1 hour and must follow the following process: first, a protective cream must be applied to the contours of the face, then the relaxing product is applied, left on for 10 minutes (or more depending on the relaxer), rinsed, and finally a neutralizer is applied, sometimes included in the pack (for example, Schwarzkopf's Glatt). These steps may obviously differ depending on the chosen product. It is therefore important to read the instructions carefully before any use.
