A leader in electric clippers

Wahl was founded in Illinois in 1911 when Leo Wahl discovered the electromagnetic vibrating motor. As a student, he used it to design a medical massager that his uncle would later manufacture in Sterling at the Wahl Manufacturing Company. Eight years later, Leo took over and renamed the company Wahl Clipper Corporation. He then used his motor to improve barbers' cutting tools . This is where the electromagnetic clipper was born, the first clipper to have an integrated motor. Subsequently, thousands of clippers were sold to barber shops, as well as to hairdressers.

Thus, today, Wahl is the leading company we all know, with its approximately 1500 employees, its multiple innovations (more than 100 patents were filed during Leo Wahl's lifetime alone), and its 165 reseller countries.

In the meantime, the company has improved its inventions (motor, power, options, weight, cutting heads...), developed its manufacturing and export capabilities. It has also diversified into hairdressing (hairdryers, razors, maintenance accessories...), but also into animal care (horses, cattle, sheep) and grooming.
The brand also acquired the firm Moser  in 1996 and thus opened up to the German market. Not to mention the fact that in 2002, it developed a clipper specially designed for NASA astronauts!
