Framar was founded in 1985 when Frank Gallo, a Canadian hairdresser, decided to perfect his cutting and coloring skills by following a program in England.

A story of foils

The training was very beneficial to him, as he discovered a new technique: using aluminum foil to color hair.

After this revelation, Frank Gallo returned home and shared this innovation with his wife Maria. He then implemented this technique in his hair salon, sensing that it was the future of strand coloring.

The couple complemented each other perfectly: Frank with hairdressing and Maria cutting aluminum foil into strips from a local manufacturer. From there, the company Framar was born, a contraction of their two first names.

As for their reputation, it grew over time, and especially through their travels to many hair salons in Ontario to teach this revolutionary practice!
