Pink Ribbons: Hairdressers United Against Breast Cancer

Aaaah October, it's the leaves turning yellow, sweaters reappearing, squash soups, but most importantly... the return of Pink October!
Yes, because for 27 years now, October has been synonymous with the fight against breast cancer in France.
Pink October aims to raise awareness about screening and raise funds for research into the disease. This awareness is manifested through various charity events organized by health organizations, but also by other actors deeply committed to the cause. The hairdressing industry is also involved with the Boucles Roses (Pink Curls) operation!

October, a symbolic month

From a certain age, 1 in 8 women risk developing breast cancer. This is why, since 1994, the French association Ruban Rose (formerly known as Le Cancer du Sein, Parlons-en !, or Breast Cancer, Let's Talk About It!) has been working to inform the general public about this cancer and promote early detection.

Pink October is primarily an annual communication campaign aimed at the general public, with the goal of encouraging action. Numerous symbolic actions and events therefore take place during these 31 days so that everyone can get fully involved: marathons, conferences, fashion shows, auctions, workshops, exhibitions, online challenges... Each institution commits itself, because every euro raised and every breast cancer screening performed helps to push back the disease.

Coiffure Vitalité, a committed mutual insurance company

A French mutual insurance company has decided to get involved for the 3rd time; it is Coiffure Vitalité. This health plan is specific to the hairdressing industry and aims to protect hairdressers.

It is therefore not surprising that the Coiffure Vitalité mutual insurance company is also involved in Pink October. But how? By implementing Boucles Roses, a digital operation, but not only!


Boucles Roses, to challenge hairdressers

What are Boucles Roses? It's a series of challenges launched by Coiffure Vitalité on social networks and in salons. For each challenge met by a hairdresser, Coiffure Vitalité funds a donation for the fight against breast cancer. The amounts donated can range from €15 to €40 depending on the challenge completed.

To this end, the hairdressers' mutual insurance company punctuates October with 5 challenges: 2 have already passed, and the 3rd began on October 11. It consists, for hairdressing professionals, of sharing the video "Les bons réflexes" (The Right Reflexes) on their social networks with the hashtag #bouclesroses. Through this challenge, each share generates a €20 donation! To find out about the next challenges, head over to the Boucles Roses website! Donations to the Ligue contre le Cancer

All funds raised by Coiffure Vitalité are donated to the Ligue contre le Cancer (League Against Cancer). In 2020, €80,000 in donations were thus made. The first edition had raised over €20,000 for the Solidhair association.

As of this Tuesday, October 19, €67,565 have already been raised for the Ligue contre le Cancer. So, hairdressers and other beauty professionals, don't hesitate to participate until the end of the month!

Gouiran is also committed!

Seeing all these institutions commit to the cause also inspired Gouiran to get involved, while allowing individuals to participate as well. Gouiran therefore pledges to donate €1 to the Ligue contre le Cancer for any purchase of a Beautélive product made between October 25 and 31. It's time to do a good deed!
