“My hairdresser is committed”, the label for responsible hairdressing salons

« Mon coiffeur s’engage », le label des salons de coiffure responsables

Because a label is not just a record company, Le Mag’ takes you to discover a quality certification that deserves to be known to all hairdressers. Focus on the “Mon Coiffeur S’engage” eco-label.

______________

Generally speaking, people feel more concerned with environmental issues. For some, it is an awareness that has emerged recently, accompanied by the latest societal developments. But for others, it has been a real commitment for years.

Today in each sector of activity, initiatives that are part of this dynamic are being implemented, especially in hairdressing.
And if there is one actor who did not wait until 2020 to express his ecological conscience in front of everyone, it is “My Hairdresser Is Committed”.

What is the “My Hairdresser S’engage” label?

“My Hairdresser Is Committed” is a label certified by Afnor and which has worked since 2009 to demonstrate the commitment of hairdressing salons to sustainable development and social awareness.
It allows hairdressers to engage even more to preserve the planet and the health of their employees, but also to prove to their customers their involvement.

Valid for 3 years, it is a unique eco-label of its kind, since it is the only one in France to offer salons a sustainable, responsible, respectful and ecological image. No other label currently exists for the profession.

What is an (eco-)responsible salon?

Does this mean anything to you? This is normal, we were already talking to you about this notion of eco-responsible living room in our article on recycling of cut hair by Capillum and Coiffeurs Justes.

As a general rule, a hairdressing salon consumes a lot of electricity, water, chemicals, etc. By adopting an eco-responsible approach, it is possible to better manage your energy consumption by rationalizing the different uses.

However, eco-responsibility does not stop there. It also concerns waste management, ergonomic equipment and salon equipment, the health of employees, the civic role of the show and compliance with standards and regulations.

Ultimately, an eco-responsible hair salon is more ecological, more economical and also safer thanks to simple gestures!

Why and how to label your salon?

There are 2 reasons which should motivate you to have your salon certified:

– Reduce your impact on the environment as much as possible.
– Make financial savings, of course.
– Stand out from the competition and attract new customers who are sensitive to your approach.

If you are motivated and determined, then that’s perfect, all you have to do is apply! But don’t rush too much either, because to obtain the responsible “Mon Coiffeur S’engage” label, you need to follow a few steps.

First of all, you must take stock of your living room by improving its strong and weak points. Take an interest in the label's 5 key themes: energy, products, waste, management & health.

Then, formalize your salon’s commitment by creating an account here and by responding as you go to 40 questions. Get your team involved by integrating them into the project!

As soon as 80% of the reference document is completed, you can then contact the label's Hairdressing Department who will send a independent certifying firm to audit your salon. An intervention which will cost you 495# excluding tax (the only expense of the procedure).

contact@moncoiffeursengage.com

Once the audit has been completed, the organization sends your file and an award committee studies it. It is Nenny Sutty, Communications Manager of the Hairdressing Department, who will keep you informed.
After validation of the file, you will obtain the “Mon Coiffeur S’engage” label for a period of 3 years, as well as a dedicated kit.

To help you in your efforts and become a true eco-responsible hairdresser, go to the mobile application from the label!

Because customers are increasingly sensitive to this type of eco-responsible label, link your convictions to your profession and work for a better future. 🌳
