How to choose your hair color?

choix couleur de cheveux
Hair trends, a desire for renewal, or covering grey hair – there are many reasons that can push us to want to change our natural hair color! From subtle highlights to a complete transformation, hair coloring can take on a multitude of forms and shades. However, it's not always easy to choose the ideal shade that will enhance our features.
______________

Skin and eye color, or even face shape – we reveal the criteria to consider to guide you in your decision!

CRITERION N°1: YOUR NATURAL HAIR COLOR

  • If you have blonde hair

To enhance your beautiful base, choose warmer tones like copper or gold if you want to warm up your complexion. For a more trendy and original style, opt for beige or cool highlights like the very fashionable "sand hair" or the magnificent "silver" with its cool, silvery reflections.

  • If you have brown hair

It will also depend on your preference between warm or cool highlights! For the first, opt for coppery or mahogany reflections that will enhance your base. For the second option, ash will perfectly satisfy you: in highlights, in a tie-and-dye, or all over, it brings an ultra-stylish touch!

  • If you have naturally red or coppery highlights

We advise you to stick to warm shades that will perfectly enhance your base color. You can also intensify your natural color and choose a flamboyant red that will add pep to your look!

CRITERION N°2: SKIN TONE

What hair color for olive skin?

Olive skin tones will pair very well with brown, chestnut, and dark brown tones, which will highlight the golden tan of your skin. To add more reflections, opt for auburn, which will bring depth to your hair.

What hair color for fair skin?

If your eyes are also light, you can easily turn to shades of blonde such as platinum or ash. However, if you want to make your eyes pop and emphasize this part of your face, chestnut shades will also be excellent alternatives!

Finally, if you have rosy skin or freckles, you can confidently go for shades of red and reflections like golden, coppery, or Venetian. These warm tones will have the advantage of highlighting your features!

CRITERION N°3: THE TYPE OF HAIR COLORING

Depending on your percentage of grey hair or the desired longevity, you will not choose the same type of hair coloring.

What color to cover grey hair?

Permanent coloring, also called "oxidation coloring," offers perfect and even coverage of the hair. It also provides optimal hold but requires a visit to the hairdresser approximately every 5 weeks for root touch-ups.

If, on the other hand, you want a color that gradually fades without leaving demarcation lines, you can opt for a tone-on-tone coloring, usually formulated without ammonia. Less aggressive, its hold is still less significant than that of permanent coloring but has the advantage of blending with your natural color.
