Okay, okay... We're not in China, and for us Westerners, New Year's is already ancient history! Nevertheless, why should we give up on getting dolled up and partying? Any occasion is a good one. So, go, go, go, let's get beautiful for Chinese New Year!

______________

A quick briefing on Chinese New Year

Also called "Lunar New Year" and "Spring Festival", Chinese New Year is a popular celebration in China and more generally in Asia. For 30 to 40 days, the New Year is celebrated, with its start date depending on the lunar calendar, unlike the Gregorian calendar we use in the West. And since the moon is constantly moving, this date changes every year.

In 2022, Chinese New Year is celebrated on February 1st under the sign of the Tiger !

And yes, because in China, each lunar year is symbolized by an animal in ancestral Chinese astrology. This operates in 12-year cycles, with the astrological signs in the following order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. With the tiger this year, we are at the beginning of the cycle.

Depending on the country, the types of New Year festivities vary. But in essence, reunions, conviviality, and gastronomic opulence govern this period. Some traditions are therefore common to several countries, such as red clothing and countless lanterns lit in the streets.

Red, gold, and everything in between for a festive and roaring makeup look

Red is therefore THE color to bet on for Lunar New Year. If it's favored for this celebration, it's because it's considered lucky in Chinese culture. And that's good, since the tiger signifies strength and hope. With its character, personality, and abilities, the tiger is therefore one of the most coveted signs. So we must honor it this new year with a sublimated look!

Finding your outfit won't be difficult, but for makeup, that's a whole other story.
Here are some inspirations found online that you can reproduce exactly or enhance in your own way. But don't stray too far from red and gold tones, or you risk losing the theme 😉
