Also called "Lunar New Year" and "Spring Festival", Chinese New Year is a popular celebration in China and more generally in Asia. For 30 to 40 days, the New Year is celebrated, with its start date depending on the lunar calendar, unlike the Gregorian calendar we use in the West. And since the moon is constantly moving, this date changes every year.

And yes, because in China, each lunar year is symbolized by an animal in ancestral Chinese astrology. This operates in 12-year cycles, with the astrological signs in the following order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
