Why use a body scrub?
In addition to helping you avoid peeling this summer after a sunburn, body scrubs offer numerous benefits:
- Removes dead skin cells, impurities, and ingrained dead skin
- Stimulates cell renewal for younger, smoother skin
- Prepares the skin to better absorb moisturizers and body creams
- Smooths the skin texture for a more uniform appearance
- Reduces stress and relaxes through the body scrub massage.
Pro tip: Use a body scrub 1 to 2 times a week.
Different types of body scrubs
Mechanical scrubs
Mechanical scrubs use exfoliating particles such as sea salt, sugar, crushed fruit kernels, and vegetable powder scrubs. They are very effective, but we do not recommend them if you have sensitive skin.
Enzymatic scrubs
Based on plant enzymes like papain or bromelain, these enzyme scrubs gently dissolve dead cells. They are recommended for dry skin.
Fruit acid scrubs
Enriched with fruit acids (glycolic, lactic, etc.), these acid scrubs provide deep chemical exfoliation while respecting the epidermis.
Steps for a body scrub
Several steps must be followed to perform a scrub:
- Prepare the area by cleaning and drying it
- Apply the scrub to damp skin using circular motions
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water to remove scrub residue
- Moisturize the skin with a moisturizing milk, oil, or body butter.
Which scrub to choose based on my skin type?
- Dry skin: Opt for enzymatic or fruit acid scrubs to avoid irritation
- Oily skin: Choose a purifying mechanical scrub with salts or sugars
- Sensitive skin: Gentle enzymatic or acid scrubs are ideal
- Mature skin: Prefer a regenerating scrub based on fruit acids
