After the Steampod 3.0 launched in 2019, L'Oréal Professionnel is releasing the brand new and much-anticipated Steampod 4, still in collaboration with Rowenta.
Features of Steampod 4.0
The Steampod 4 is a steam straightener that allows you to create curls very easily. The plates of this Steampod are ceramic, coated with aluminum. This allows for intensive use without damaging the plates. It has been tested and the conclusion is clear: it allows for 218,750 passes per strand of hair, equivalent to 20 years of use! The plates are floating, which allows for better grip on the hair and prevents breakage if too much pressure is applied to the hair. Moreover, they are 30% closer to the root compared to the Steampod 3.0.
The major evolution of this Steampod 4 lies in the outer plates. Indeed, this Steampod is equipped with 2 removable shells on the outside of the plates. Once these shells are removed, 2 ergonomic and thermal plates appear, which will facilitate curling. They emit gentle heat (up to 100°C), and allow for better redefinition and shaping of curls, as well as better hold over time. We therefore have, in a single device, a straightener and a curler.
You can choose the desired temperature: 180°C – 200°C – 210°C, to adapt to all hair types, from the finest to the thickest.
This Steampod 4 automatically switches off after 30 minutes of non-use. Its 2.5m cord rotates 360°, which makes it easier to use, so the cord will not bother you.
STEAM, the key word of this Steampod 4.0
The advantage of the Steampod lies in the fact that it emits steam, 0.8g/min. The technology of this Steampod is patented and allows for total respect of the hair fiber. The water tank is located above the straightener. To help you fill it, a filling bottle is included.
The steam will allow Steampod-specific treatments to penetrate inside the hair. You can get the plumping SMOOTHING MILK for fine hair, or the smoothing cream for thick hair. These 2 products will be activated by the steam and will provide a real deep treatment and also protect against the heat of the plates.
Another innovation of this Steampod: it comes with 3 removable combs designed for steam and to allow homogeneous steam diffusion. You will find the following 3 combs:
- fine teeth, for straight to wavy hair
- intermediate, for curly hair
- wide teeth, for very curly to coily hair

How to use Steampod 4.0?
Always use the products intended for the steampod, smoothing cream or milk, and serum.
To ensure the maximum lifespan of the Steampod 4.0, the use ofdemineralized water is essential.
Preparing the Steampod 4.0
Remove the water tank from the Steampod 4 then fill it with demineralized water, using the pipette provided for this. Then put the tank back in place.
Take the comb suited to your hair, place it in its location on the Steampod 4.0.
Choose the heat according to your hair:
- 180°C for fine or sensitized hair
- 200°C or 210°C for thick or natural hair
Protect your hair
In order to best protect your hair and guarantee perfect straightening, use the appropriate straightening treatment for your hair. Smoothing milk for fine hair, and straightening cream for thick hair. Apply a small amount of product to damp hair, distribute well throughout the hair then dry with a hairdryer.
Smoothing
Before you start straightening your hair, leave the steampod 4.0 closed to trigger the steam.
Make thin sections of sections of hair, then smooth from root to tip, slowly, for perfect smoothness. Be careful to always have the arrows engraved on the Steampod facing down.
The finish
Once straightening is done, put 1 or 2 drops of serum all over the hair. Adapt the quantity according to the hair.
