Are you studying for a CAP in Aesthetics, Cosmetics, and Perfumery? Are your final exams approaching, and you want to maximize your chances of getting your diploma? Here's what you'll need to succeed.
______________
The tests awaiting you during the final exam
Your exams are coming soon, so make sure you're familiar with how they will proceed. As with the CAP in Hairdressing, you will have 8 different exams to pass to obtain your diploma.
These units are as follows:
- 3 professional tests
- 5 general tests
If you have a knack for a foreign language, you can still opt for an optional test. If you score above average in this subject, the points above 10 will be counted and will allow you to get a better final grade for your CAP Aesthetics.
We remind you that being absent from an exam is grounds for disqualification. Also, to obtain your CAP Aesthetics, you will need to achieve an average of 10/20 in each of the exams.
What are the CAP Aesthetics exams?
Your academy or institution should have provided you with a specific document outlining the various tests you will have to face. In 2021, these are the following:
- Facial, hand, and foot aesthetic techniques
- Aesthetic techniques related to hair and nails
- Management of a beauty and wellness institute: customer relations and institute operations
- French, history, geography, civic education
- Mathematics, physical and chemical sciences
- Physical education and sports (not available for self-taught candidates)
- Living language
- Applied arts and artistic culture (optional, only points above 10 count)
Note that if you already hold a CAP or a higher diploma, you do not need to take the general exams (i.e., exams 4 to 8).

How to practice as final exams approach?
As with most CAPs, it's important to have practiced before you take your exam. Several keys exist to be perfectly prepared. Some will suit you more than others. Perhaps you have other strategies, as our list cannot be exhaustive. Feel free to discuss them with everyone in the comment section after this article.
1. Prepare your revision weeks to optimize them
First of all, we can only advise you to prepare arevision schedule based on yourcurriculum and itsreference framework. Don't hesitate to consult other people in your class to practice together, or simply to exchange ideas.
2. Writing and viewing, two major learning keys
There are many ways to retain information. Some revision methods will be more accessible to you.
Everyone will find a more accessible and effective method for learning. The ones we are most familiar with are writing and watching (and actively listening). Writing often helps to memorize and synthesize in your mind what you are putting down on paper. This includes your curriculum, which you could write out and categorize into revision sheets, for example.
Viewing is also very effective. Visual and auditory memory help many people retain information.
It goes without saying that the most effective way to retain a large amount of information is, without a doubt, to combine both!
3. Practice aesthetic professions
Without necessarily practicing every day until your exam, you need regularity to properly assimilate the different tasks that make up your aesthetic profession.
That's why you should find someone in your entourage who will have the time and patience necessary for you to practice properly.
What you'll need for the CAP Aesthetics exam
It goes without saying that when you take your exam, you will need flawless makeup, hair, clothing, and nails. You will also need documents to access the examination room. These are simply:
- Your ID card
- An ID card for your model (who must be an adult)
- Your exam convocation
Also, with this, you will need all your necessary equipment and products, which you will disinfect beforehand when taking your exam. The equipment differs depending on the various tests.

Being in a good state for your exam
It is essential to be in good condition during your exam. Stress is not necessarily something to eliminate. It is perfectly normal and healthy. However, you need to know how to channel it so as not to be overwhelmed by your emotions.
This already involves good practice to master your subject. This applies to written tests as well as oral ones. Breathing exercises can also be an excellent solution if you are afraid of being too stressed.
Don't bother revising the day before D-Day. It would be pointless, serving only to confuse you. It's counterproductive. You are supposed to be ready, so build up your confidence and go in with your head held high and prepared. Believe in yourself, everything will be fine.
The night before, besides preparing your equipment, you can make sure your model is also ready for your appointment. This is the final stretch before you can practice your profession. Courage!
